Autism Social Connection

Gatepath's Social Connections provides afterschool and weekend group activities for individuals ages 8 and up with autism (ASD), ADHD, and for others who learn differently. Programs support socialization, recreational and emotional development.

Classes are offered at several locations throughout the Bay Area and at various times.

Group class activities in a social setting that improve mental, emotional, and or physical wellbeing such as yoga, art, music and more.

Yoga Classes

Yoga encourages mental, emotional, and physical health through the use of movement, and the connection between the body and brain. It also promotes social skills by teaching mindfulness.

Hang Outs

Themed monthly social gatherings to have fun and meet new friends. These are opportunities to meet friends, play board games, video games, watch movies, or just kick back and chat. Each month’s Hang Out has a special theme and attendees can join activities of their interest. Pizza, drinks and snacks, including some gluten free, are provided.

We have Hang Outs on different nights for different age groups:

  • Teens and Young Adults ages 13-22 Hang Outs are every 3rd Friday of each month, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  • Adults ages 23-35 Hang Outs are every 1st Friday of each month, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Film Classes

Our film classes provide instruction on the filmmaking process, such as scripting, directing, acting, camera work and editing. Classes provide instruction on the filmmaking process, from scripting to directing, camerawork to editing. Participants in these groups are able to listen and take direction as well as be able to effectively communicate their thoughts and ideas with each other.

These specialized social film making groups are designed to encourage collaboration, creativity, and career exploration in children, teens and young adults with autism spectrum disorders. Sessions help develop social skills and encourage group interaction while teaching valuable lessons in cooperation, time management, and artistic expression. Participants meet in a casual, low-key environment, encouraging conversation and camaraderie, while giving young people hands-on experience with cameras, sound equipment, computer programs, and other aspects of visual media.

We have scholarships on a sliding scale fee for families who needs assistance.
