Nicole Adler, a 22-year-old student at the College of San Mateo, is described as an ambitious and passionate advocate for inclusion. Her dream is to become a motivational speaker who inspires individuals with disabilities to be better self-advocates – and she will be taking a step toward achieving her dream tomorrow as the keynote speaker at the National Down Syndrome Convention in Sacramento.

“Nicole prides herself on her communicative abilities and willingness to publicly share how she navigates the struggles she faces as a young woman with Down syndrome (DS), in the hope of inspiring others,” said David Cady, who is a staff instructor for Gatepath’s CollegePath program.

As a goal-oriented individual, Nicole is committed to achieving her dream of becoming a motivational speaker so she can promote inclusion for people with DS and developmental disabilities, and so she can be a model for self-advocacy and independence. She is working toward her goal by taking a variety of communications and public speaking courses at college.

“I am very proud of Nicole’s progress at Gatepath and at the College of San Mateo,” said David. “She came to Gatepath with a clear path in mind, and she is making it happen through her self-determination and a positive outlook.”Don’t miss photos and video from Nicole’s keynote talk on Gatepath’s Facebook page.
