Community Gatepath created AbilityPath.org – an online hub and special needs community for parents and professional to learn, connect and live a more balanced life; through all phases of a child's growth and development. AbilityPath.org’s community blogs, forums, events and groups allow parents to connect and share experiences and stories, providing an outlet of support and encouragement throughout their parenting journey. Content is available in English and Spanish and features advice, tool kits and other practical day to day living tips. AbilityPath.org is made possible through First 5 San Mateo County.
For families in the San Francisco Bay Area, you may also visit our Family Resource Center located at the Niall P. McCarthy Center for Children & Families. The Family Resource Center is open Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is staffed by parents of children with special needs who are dedicated to helping families gain access to private and public resources.
Join the Family Resource Center email listserv and receive information and updates relating to the care of your child with special needs or join their online group. Gatepath also offers a Family Advisory Committee for our adult particpants' families and caregivers. The Committe meets to discuss issues affecting them and the participants. If you are interested in sitting on the committee, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
