Program Manager of Watch Me Grow Demonstration Site

Cheryl Oku is the program manager for the Watch Me Grow Demonstration Site in South San Francisco funded by First 5 San Mateo County.  This program provides early identification and intervention for over 500 children each year, ages birth to 5, through developmental screening, referral to further evaluation and parent resources.

 

For over 30 years, the focus of Cheryl’s work has been on improving the quality of care and education for young children and their families. Cheryl has worked with children, parents and programs in many roles; as a teacher, caregiver, program co-director and parent educator.  Her experience includes serving as an instructor and trainer for early care and education programs and consultant for local, regional, state and national quality improvement initiatives.  She has provided training and technical assistance to the First 5 California Special Needs Project through the California Institute on Human Services at Sonoma State University. Cheryl earned her B.A. in Psychology and teaching credentials for Early Childhood/Elementary Education, Adult Education and Community College.
